Quoting from the introduction to this video:

This animated Op-Doc explores why J.J. Cale, who wrote such classic songs as “After Midnight,” “Cocaine” and “Call Me the Breeze,” never achieved stardom.

I find that the ultimate irony is that even the video thumbnail uploaded by NYT, features an image of Eric Clapton instead of the main subject – J.J.Cale.
