Nature and friendship of peoples do not know state borders. Our film is dedicated to the Great Altai and tells not only about its pristine wild nature, but also about the life, culture and traditions of the Altai, Kazakh and Russian population of the villages located near Mount Belukha, the highest peak of Siberia and Altai.
Together with the authors of the film, you will visit high-mountain lakes, cascades of waterfalls and healing springs. Feel the beauty and power of the glaciers of Mount Belukha, giving life to the Katun and Berel rivers. You will learn how the snow leopard and other rare species of animals and plants are preserved. Get acquainted with the daily life of cattle breeders on mountain pastures, try kumiss and fresh mare’s milk. You will learn the history of the Berel burial mounds from the ancient Valley of the Kings. Visit the highest mountain mosque in Kazakhstan – Al-Quddus. And also – you will hear Altai throat singing and playing the dombra and visit local artisans.
“Great Altai” is the first Russian-Kazakh transboundary UNESCO biosphere reserve in Asia. It was created to preserve the invaluable natural and cultural heritage along with the sustainable development of the material and spiritual well-being of the people living on this fertile land.
